Mindset Jolt #10 – Start from oneness, not separateness

Mindset Jolt #10 – Start from oneness, not separateness

Welcome to our 3-Minute Conscious Innovator™ process!

Are you ready for a new, insight-provoking “Jolt” … something that challenges conventional thinking about the "right" mindset for being innovative? It's not that the conventional understanding is wrong - just limited.

Jolts wake us up. They emphasize a shift of focus that taps into a deeper, more expansive consciousness. The result can be profound insights into yourself and others that bring out your full, innovative potential, whether in small, daily tasks or major projects.

Jolt #10: Start from oneness, not separateness

There’s a common childhood game called “What if…?” What if we could fly? What if we didn’t have to go to school? This game of challenging assumptions has been turned into a creativity technique. You don’t have to believe that a new assumption is “right” or “true”; just use it as a stimulating, provocative pathway to new insights and ideas.

Let’s try it…

It’s universally common for us to feel separate… separate from each other, from animals and birds, from trees and rocks, from galaxies and stars. This experience of separateness is based on input from our 5 physical senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste.

What if our experience of separateness is an illusion? What if we experienced ourselves as expressions of a singular Oneness, like multiple waves are expressions of a single ocean? What might this perspective of Oneness make to our “practical,” day-to-day experience of being innovative?

Physics tells us that everything in creation is a form of “energy”: every galaxy, star, organism, molecule, and electromagnetic wave is part of a Oneness of energy. The eminent physicist David Bohm speaks to this Oneness as “Wholeness,” which he considers to be a coherent approach to reality:

“The universe is not separate from this cosmic sea of energy. Underlying all this is unbroken wholeness – even though our civilization has developed in such a way as to strongly emphasize the separation into parts. Wholeness is not a place you can get to; wholeness is a kind of attitude or approach to the whole of life.”

From this “What if…?” point of view, it’s not accurate to say we’re separate from each other, or separate from anything in creation. We are not born into this universe; rather, we emerge from and exist as a wave on this vast ocean of conscious energy – paradoxically distinct yet never separate, because we are forever one with all that is.

When we’re innovating, it may be tempting to think we can start from “separateness” and somehow connect and unite to create Oneness: The Many Become One.

Instead, let’s start from “Oneness” and then consider the multitude of separate yet interdependent parts: Oneness Becomes the Many.

See what difference it can make when you start your innovation efforts based on the attitude and approach that, “All is One. All is whole. All is interdependent. All impacts all.”

-=-=-=- Now it's your turn -=-=-=-

Being a Conscious Innovator™  has a 3 phase cyclical process: become aware, capable, and versatile. Try on this Jolt in your life and work, then take 1 minute each to engage in the process:

  1. Become aware – What is 1 new awareness you have about yourself, others and your situation?
  2. Identify your capability – What is 1 personal value and 1 strength you can draw from and put into practice?
  3. Take versatile action – What is 1 action you can take to apply your awareness and capability in ways you have not thought of before?

-=-=-=- An invitation to join our process and share your insights -=-=-=-
